First Time at a Sex Shop
Going into a Sex shop, or as some may call it, an Adult toy store can be nerve-wracking. I know that for the first time, I was a bit nervous. I didn’t know what I would see and how much other stuff they sell at a sex shop. I was lucky to have my older sister to help me calm those nerves and answer some questions, like, Is it only a dildo store? Do they have games for adults? Do they sell contraceptives? Or is it like a book/film store with only porn magazines and films?
What to expect?
Going to a sex shop for the first time can be an exciting and slightly nerve-wracking experience, but it's important to remember that sex shops are designed to be welcoming and inclusive spaces where you can explore your sexuality and learn more about sexual wellness.
When you enter, depending on the store of choice, it's a new world. Many many things to look at, including different sections, like a magazine section, a movie section, the lingerie section, and of course, the toy section. Now for the toy section, you may get intimidated by all the options; sometimes, they have the toy out of the box. NOW, DON'T USE IT (haha), but you can touch and see the levels of vibrations or suction depending on the toy. My sister ensured I didn’t think much of it when going. It is just a store with many kinds of toys.
Here are some things you can expect when you go to a sex shop for the first time:
A wide range of products: Sex shops typically offer a wide variety of sex toys, lubricants, condoms, lingerie, and other adult products. You may be surprised by the sheer number of items available.
Knowledgeable staff: Sex shop staff are trained to answer your questions and provide you with information about the products. Don't be afraid to ask questions or seek recommendations.
A discreet shopping experience: Many sex shops have private booths or fitting rooms where you can try on lingerie or view adult videos. Additionally, most shops will have discreet packaging options for any items you purchase.
A judgment-free environment: Sex shops are designed to welcome people of all genders, sexual orientations, and relationship styles. You can feel comfortable exploring your sexual preferences and interests without fear of judgment.
A focus on sexual health and wellness: Many sex shops offer products that enhance sexual pleasure and items like condoms and lubricants that promote sexual health and safety.
Overall, going to a sex shop for the first time can be a fun and informative experience. Don't be afraid to ask questions, explore new products, and embrace your sexuality.

When going to a sex store for the first time, it can be intimidating with all the toys and things you will see. Like myself, I was super nervous without even realizing it.
My first time at the sex store was to buy a gift for a bachelorette, so it was planned yet out of the blue. Luckily, I went with my sister, who had been before, and on the way there, she explained that things might make me feel uncomfortable and such. Going with someone else is calming if they have already gone. If it's the first time for you and/or your partner, there is always the online option, and you can browse around before going physically to the store or shop completely online.
Don’t like going in person? Here are some cool online stores
going in person for your toy, gadgets, clothing, etc might not be for everyone. Thank goodness for online shopping, right?! There are aesthetically pleasing and regular cool websites, and most have discrete packaging for those who want it to be on the DL (down low).
